There are several different types of oral contraceptives pills and it is important to determine which type will work best for you. Other options for contraception include the patch, the depo provera injection every 3 months, and the vaginal ring. Long acting reversible contraception (LARC). These include the Intrauterine Device (IUD), Hormonal and non hormonal types. Nexplanon, a hormonal implant placed under the skin in the upper arm. Good for 3 years and done in the office by numbing the skin.
Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation
For those who prefer this option, we perform a minimally invasive surgery to remove the fallopian tubes completely. The surgery is performed in the hospital or outpatient clinic and requires anesthesia. Three 5mm incision will be made in your abdomen. Often this procedure is done within 6 weeks after delivery or anytime not associated with pregnancy, when a woman is certain she is finished having children.
Average Recovery: You will need to rest for approximately 3-5 days after surgery and may experience minimal pain in your abdomen, slight vaginal bleeding and discomfort from gas. After your short recovery, you will not need to use an alternate form of birth control and can resume activities.
